JUDGE'S CRITIQUE
Mr. Vern Malloy's critique
for the Hungarian Vizsla Championship Show
March 7 th , 2004
BABY PUPPY DOG:
1st Excellent quality at this age.
MINOR PUPPY DOG:
1st Excellent headed Puppy, presents better profile when moving than on the stack - at the leggy stage.
PUPPY DOG:
1st Would like more animation when moving, good in profile but does not do justice when gaiting .
JUNIOR DOG:
1st Displays quality without exaggeration both on the stack and when moving.
2nd Good head - proficient in movement.
3rd Needs more muscle tone, unwilling to stand.
INTERMEDIATE DOG:
1st Excellent quality. Slightly loose when moving but displays sound type in profile.
2nd Bigger Dog - and overweight.
3rd Also a big dog - tending towards coarseness.
AUST. BRED DOG:
1st Excellent type, held good topline when moving.
2nd Again nice type - would have liked more freedom in rear movement.
OPEN DOG:
1st Outstanding in all aspects. Great in profile - moved with purpose and drive.
2nd Excellent quality, true movement, would more muscle tone.
3rd Another quality dog - in show stand front presented slightly wide.
BABY PUPPY BITCH:
1st Excellent type of puppy in both profile and movement.
2nd Also good in profile and movement -lacking a little in maturity.
3rd Quality Puppy displayed breed type.
4th Baby's 1 st Show but still showed signs of breed quality.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH:
1st Good Puppy nice profile on the stack naughty on the move.
PUPPY BITCH:
1st Lightly framed bitch - true in movement.
2nd Unsure when moving would not settle -no tail action.
JUNIOR BITCH:
1st Good Bitch - maintained top line when moving - nice head planes and muzzle.
2nd Also a good type - a little underdone in muzzle.
INTERMEDIATE BITCH:
1st Excellent in profile and when moving; perhaps a little more muscle tone.
AUST. BRED BITCH:
1st Outstanding Bitch excellent in profile and true in movement. Well presented , good muscle tone.
2nd Good type moved well.
3rd This bitch also moved well.
OPEN BITCH:
1st Excellent type of bitch with no exaggerations, moved well, front looked better on the move than when stacked.
2nd This bitch was less animated when moving but of excellent type.
3rd Good in profile but would have liked more chiselling on head.
I would like to thank the Hungarian Vizsla Club for the opportunity to Judge at their Championship Show. It was an honour for me to be asked.
My overall impression with the entries was of depth and quality. Three dogs stood out on the day as outstanding - Challenge Dog, Challenge Bitch and Baby Puppy Dog.
